The Glass Coast
2025 — 12:40
Twelve months beside the last lighthouse keepers of Denmark’s west coast, filmed in all four seasons and cut into one unbroken story. Selected for Skagen Documentary Days 2025.
The idea was simple and slow: return to the same three stations in spring, summer, autumn and winter, and film whatever the keepers were doing. Maintenance, mostly. Watching weather. Waiting. The film trusts that attention is a form of plot.
Four seasons filmed across eleven trips, cut over one winter into twelve minutes and forty seconds. Sixteen-millimetre for the exteriors, digital for the long interior nights. The premiere screening at Skagen Documentary Days sold out; the keepers sat in the front row.
